Contrary to popular belief, looking and feeling awesome does NOT mean aggressive dieting, endless cardio, eliminating entire food groups, celebrity-endorsed fads, expensive supplements – or ANY other quick fix for that matter! It’s MUCH simpler than that ? in fact, it boils down to being consistent with three things …

1️⃣ SUSTAINING A MODERATE CALORIE DEFICIT ⚖️ // consuming fewer calories than our body requires for activity forces the body into utilising internal fuel resources – typically body fat and muscle. This is the single most important factor for fat loss. No calorie deficit, no fat loss!

2️⃣ STRENGTH TRAINING x1-4 TIMES PER WEEK ??‍♀️ // to reshape your body AND to encourage the burning of body fat over muscle whilst in a calorie deficit

3️⃣ ENSURING SUFFICIENT PROTEIN INTAKE ? // to further encourage the burning of body fat over muscle whilst in a calorie deficit. Also to aid repair and recovery post training … AND to help manage hunger levels

The pie chart above shows the importance of each, so you can channel your efforts appropriately ? To summarisel ⬇️

NUTRITION by far the most important component of fat loss – i.e. sustaining a calorie deficit & ensuring sufficient protein intake

STRENGTH TRAINING  is important to retain muscle whilst in a calorie deficit

CARDIO far less helpful for fat loss than most people think!

SLEEP & STRESSmanaging these are the underlying foundations that can have a domino effect on everything else! Remember to look after yourself ?

Whilst fat loss might be simple on paper, that doesn’t mean it’s easy! ? And whilst the core components might be the same for everyone – that is, a moderate calorie deficit, regular strength training and sufficient protein intake – implementing them enjoyably, effectively and SUSTAINABLY into individual lives is, in my opinion, an artform … and it’s one of the things I do best ?
