Are You Confusing Quality & Quantity? 🤦🏻

Calorie quantity vs. calorie quality

These are NOT the same thing

➡️ CALORIE QUANTITY ⚖️

How many calories does our food contain?

➡️ CALORIE QUALITY 💚

How healthy / nutritious are those calories?

High-quality foods (aka “healthy” foods) include:

🍎 Fruit

🥕 Veggies

🥑 Healthy fats

🍗 Lean proteins

🌾 Whole grains

Low-quality foods (aka ‘unhealthy’ or ‘heavily processed’ foods) include:

🍪 Baked goods

🍦 Ice cream

🍭 Sweets

🍫 Milk chocolate

🍔 Trashy junk food

Are high-quality foods GENERALLY lower in calories?

Yes

Are high-quality foods ALWAYS lower-in-calories?

No!

Take an avocado, for example 🥑 – healthy but calorific

Equally …

Are low-quality foods GENERALLY higher in calories?

Yes

Are low-quality foods ALWAYS higher in calories?

No!

Consider a Diet Coke 🥤 – low-calorie but no health benefits

✅ Fat loss requires a calorie deficit, which relates to calorie QUANTITY ⚖️

(A calorie deficit is when we consistently consume fewer calories than our body requires for activity)

✅ Health requires nutritious food, which relates to calorie QUALITY 💚

Healthy fat loss requires BOTH!

Don’t be that person who says:

❌ “I can’t understand it! I eat healthily but I’m not losing weight”

That’s because you’re not in a calories deficit 🤦🏻

❌ “I can’t understand it! I’m losing weight but I feel terrible”

That’s because you’re eating shite-quality food 🤦🏻
